The camera doesn’t need to have very good picture quality perhaps 3.5 mega pixels, needs to be fairly durable and compact and water resistant, however, it does not need to be water proof. The main thing is that it needs to be fairly cheap, under 0.
I currently have a Sanyo HD1000 but it is veryyyyyy shaky, even with the stabilizer. to shoot decent video with it it must be attached to a tripod – this is not working for me. I need something that will not have such a shaky picture when using it freehand. I do not care much about zooming in, just must have a kick-butt stabilizer. Waterproof/water resistant is a plus. don’t care about high price as long as its worth it. also dont care about what memory as far as flash, SSD, or HDD. PS I know i could just use video editing software to edit out most of the shaking out, but i do not have time for such, and editing 1080p strains my computer so it is not worth it.
Well, I’ve got A nikon D40, and I want to take some pictures in the rain.
But as I know the D40 is not "water-resistant", so what should I do to protect the camera and the lens?
I recently bought a Sony DSC-TX5 and was so seriously disappointed for how much I paid for it. The image quality is very lacking, the paint is flaking off the metal after day 2, the battery door doesn’t close well and continues to give me a error message when turned on, and it really looks like the little medal piece on the front that slides over the lens and flash to protect it is starting to lift away from the camera body and is already starting to warp. I haven’t taken it out of the box more than 2 times, never touched water with it… hate to see how this water, freeze, dust and shock resistant camera holds up to the real thing.
Not to mention you have to open the battery door just to get to the port to transfer pictures to your pc and if you’re like me and do this everyday, that is seriously annoying.
My old Kodak Easyshare that came with a dock took better photos and that’s sad. The only thing this camera has going for it is the video was pretty good. I still don’t know about image stabilization being present in this camera, didn’t seem to help much and the 10 picture burst with anti-blur… LOL. I slowly moved my hand outstretched in front of the camera and out of all 10 pictures only 2 were clear/semi-clear images, still poor quality though.
Returning this camera tomorrow and getting my money back, minus the 15% restocking fee they demand.
Someone PLEASE help me choose a point and shoot, compact digital camera that takes:
1) Great image quality
2) Good Low Light Image Quality
3) Decent Video
My sister has a old Nikon that looks pretty good, but trouble is that I can’t seem to find the Older Models/Reasonable prices and I am really just so dang frustrated now… been researching for days now and even more confused.
From what I seen I will be choosing from Nikon Coolpix, Canon Powershot, Panasonic Lumix, etc. but I have no idea what is the best model within 0-0.

Casio G’zone Brigade Getting fully submerged in water…..the 3.2 meg camera also has really good quality….the audio sounds really muffled because i had put it underwater earlier that day and still had a little water in the mic
Do it yourself Video camera dry bag for . Water resistant, not quite water proof. This bag would be useful in rain, surf, or any other situation where you want to protect you camera from water but do not need to submerge it. This bag could be improved with some kind of gasket, or silicone around the cut edge. It could be made more waterproof by taking apart the UV filter and adding some silicone sealant The glass and threads are not sealed. The same idea could be adapted for many other camera types. The key is to use the step up ring. There was absolutely no vignetting even at widest setting. Sony HDR CX550v used.
